ABOUT
Modern Archive Films is an emerging independent production company based in Glasgow, Scotland. We are interested in stories that capture the magic, absurdity and richness of everyday life, with a particular focus on comedy and drama. Our distinctive blend of Scottish cinema will prioritise directorial creativity and artistic vision, harnessing the power of nostalgia and aesthetics to interrogate both past and present. Poetic, personal, carefully crafted storytelling that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the heart.
We aim to build a company that is confident about its Scottishness while embracing stories with international appeal. We have an open-mind and welcome potential collaborations of all kinds, so long as it stirs something in us. If it's good, it's good!
IN DEVELOPMENT
Fur Sadie — a feature-length period drama based on the book by Archie Hind.
Set in the early 1970s of Glasgow's east end, Fur Sadie follows a musically gifted woman who seeks freedom from the narrow confines of class and gender by pursuing her childhood dream of playing piano. Not a pursuit for a dutiful housewife and mother? Well, Sadie Anderson says otherwise!
Supported by Screen Scotland/BFI NETWORK through the First Features development programme, written for the screen and directed by Olivia J. Middleton; and co-produced with Wendy Griffin of Selkie Productions.
